Two more books, finished to and there and from Houston!
Supervillians and Philosophy edited by Ben Dyer - One of those books you find in the piles at B&N during clearance madness and pick up because why the hell not. It was really quite interesting but it was a harder slog than I had anticipated, probably because I've never taken a philosophy course in my life and so was piecing together all the different schools of thought as I went. There were a few essays less interesting and some that I'm still wondering how they made it to a philosophy book. Very much dug the V for Vendetta piece, the Dr Doom vs Authority piece, and the Mojo one. The Joker one was stellar, too, and the Venom one was thought-provoking. Could have lived without the fairly "narrative" essays like the one on Harvey Dent and the one on the Suicide Squad. I also found myself wondering what their take would be on Silver Sable and her Wild Pack. You can't pretend those lunatics are all sunshine and light and right. XD
Small Gods by Terry Pratchett - How have I never read this one before? It fit ironically well with the book above, a good pairing totally by accident. Philosophy and the nature of belief and religion and just who are we and why do we need gods. It's a good stand alone Discworld book with some damn witty insights and bits that really make you think. I wish I had marked up a few of them.
