Overdue Office Post - Picture Heavy!
May. 24th, 2015 03:33 pmSo, you know, I am bad at delivering on promises when they require me to code. Otherwise, I'm fantastic, right? Right. But hand me a computer and say "this will require coding" and I fail. So this is me saying sorry to anyone who had any interest in seeing my renovated office. The pictures are long overdue but hopefully you'll think they were worth the wait.
Oh, and the wall decor is still in progress because, uh, I just might/maybe/yesokaydid have bought more art pieces at Wizard World.
Remember what it looked like before? ( Here, let me give you nightmares. )
The Geek Room aka the Library aka Acid Trip From hell. There was no way I was going to be okay spending 40 hours a week in there, surrounded by that decor. Too dark, too icky, too claustrophobic. So a plan was hatched! Instead of taking the time to strip off the paneling, Pixie and I painted over three of the walls with a clean, warm white. My dad put drywall up on the fourth wall and that got a happy focus color. The carpet came up and, to my dismay, the hardwood beneath was too rough to leave as-is and time/money prevented a refinishing at the moment but a coat of paint and a nice big area rug can do wonders. Then it was only a matter of putting in a new desk (hello, gift cards from work!) and the furniture and adding all of the Geek Cred... Which is still something I'm playing with as I've accumulated more pretties to hang.
