Whoa, Nelly...

It's been a while, hasn't it? I've been here the whole time - just not always fit for coherent conversation and definitely not the most amazing/interesting/entertaining company. Writer's block has been swatting me around like a cat with a new toy mouse so that's been a blast. End sarcasm tag. But I've been busy otherwise and the months have melted away.
Books Read
27. The Court of the Air by Stephen Hunt - Eeeeexcellent, I cast the movie in my head and it included David Tennant and Sean Bean and me cursing that Gemma Atherton is probably a wee bit too old for Molly.
28. Alphabet of Thorns by Patricia McKillip - Quite interesting if a little slow in places, wonderfully evocative and visual.
29. Mrs Pollifax on Safari by Dorothy Gilman - Charming as always.
30. Mrs Pollifax and the Hong Kong Buddha by Dorothy Gilman - Ditto but not as much fun.
31. Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins - HOLYSHITALLTHEFEELS. And I finished it before going to the movie so nyah.
32. Mrs Pollifax and the Second Thief by Dorothy Gilman - Charming but rushed and a bit forced.
33. Mrs Pollifax Pursued by Dorothy Gilman - See above. I guess it's something that happens a lot with ongoing series. Maybe.
34. The Magicians of Caprona by Diana Wynne Jones - Delightful if somewhat predictable but I suppose it's technically a YA book so...
35. Women Who Charmed The West by Anne Seagraves - I have a few of her books and they're easy reads. I also use them as a jumping-off point for people I want to read more about and research more.
36. Hyperbole and a Half by Allie Brosch - Every wonderful thing about the blog and then more!
37. Temping Fate by Esther M Friesner - Pretty darn charming but it needs to have a sequel, stat!
Life
- I passed my licensing exam with a comfy enough margin that I didn't pass out in panic.
- The very next day I started training for my new position in Special Services.
- I got to see Alton Brown live and I want a Mega-Bake Oven desperately.
- I passed all my Special Service tests and am now in Academy... for another week and then I'll be "released."
- We have Mythbusters this week and I'm volunteering at a nursing home's holiday party as well.
- The Annual Cookie Ritual has begun...
