mindsplintersThough this is primarily a writing journal, it's also a small corner of the internet where no one pays much attention so here we go with 2009...
2009 - was a roller coaster in that Life Is A Highway sort of way. There were amazingly good points, astoundingly bad points, and everything in between. I survived, though, so I count it as a success. More or less.
* Media trained and lead to expect Great Things by the client
* Which resulted in some awkward team division and then crushed hopes
* Which also resulted in the chance to do some amazingly fun traveling to Las Vegas where I met a wonderful creature named Pixie face to face and Orlando where I had the balls to stand on stage and hula and spent 3 days oblivious to the tech support guy hitting on me
* Which will result in me going to Ft Lauderdale and Houston in 2010
* Went on my first full-family vacation in forever and discovered that we should always take cruises because we don't fight and just have fun (it helps to be able to avoid each other when necessary or not having Dad wake me up at 7am because "we are on vacation and there are Things To Do")
* Attended a real-life professional conference in my strangely determined field and experience Rochester, MN with an adorable co-worker
* Had my heart broken
* Relearned the wonders of medication and how damn lucky I am to have the friends I do
* Completed and conquered my first NaNo (even if it might have been cheating to do short stories)
* After losing the will to write and losing all confidence in my abilities and not having written for quite a while
* Gained strength in my abilities at work and learned to wear the battle mask against Napoleon and Josephine
* Relearned the wonders of medication
* Lost my Uncle Mike and learned some dirty laundry best left in the bin
* Learned to appreciate my co-workers and my amazingly wonderful boss even more
* Created new characters that I am damn proud of and adopted one that I'm so excited to work with
* Watched games I love die or drift away
All in all, it was a very rough year but I survived and I'm still so very blessed that it feels shameful to complain. I still have so many of the riches I entered the year with and who can ever regret that? I have some of the most heart-stoppingly amazing friends who care and support and create and make me laugh. I have an amazing roomie who just knows things and who my family adores as much as I do. I am still writing and I'm sketching a bit again.
