Books Update

mindsplintersAnd here we are with a new year and a new list of books! I think I'm going to try and get back to listing/reviewing as I go along.
Boudicca: The Warrior Queen by M.J. Trow - While this book was thoroughly researched and impressively documented, the sum of it all was disappointment. For a book about Boudicca, it had surprisingly little of the famous Iceni queen. Plenty about the Roman legions, empire, mind-set, etc, though, so there was a lot of information to be digested.
Theirs To Take by Natasha Knight - The Other Book Club book for January. Well, then. BDSM, smutty smut, humiliation... and drugs and human trafficking. Not really my cup of tea to begin with but it would not have been particularly bad had the thing been written better. The swapping of POV made the heroine more incomprehensible than understandable and the arc of character growth was nearly a flatline.
Mrs. Pollifax and the Golden Triangle by Dorothy Gilman - A Mrs Pollifax book with all that implies. Fluffy, fast-moving, a decent amount of research. A bit more stale and less sweetly charming than the other books but, considering it is the 8th book, I guess that's only to be expected.
